7 days in New York
Last week, no STHLM days. Now back in Sweden, I give you the kodakest moments from my week: (27/11: new kodak moments added!)
A Manhattan "molntuss" over, approximately, 10th Av., spotted on its way to the
Chelsea galleries.
On my "MA thesis research trip" these are the best shows I saw:
Folkert de Jong at James Cohan Gallery. I caught him at Peres Projects in Berlin last year but wasn´t that impressed then, for some reason, Now, however, his way with materials really got me. The colours in my photos aren´t truthful, in reality this is really bright stuff.
A video piece, no sound, only a shiny red printing
press at work
Wolfgang Tillmanns doing his thing at Andrea Rosen Gallery. Good installation view photos here, check it out. Cause his trademark way of installing is half the fun (from a curator student´s point of view, at least).
Do Ho Suh at Lehmann Maupin (the Chelsea space, not the new, Lower East Side one - that isn´t open quite yet, unfortunately)
Richard Prince at the Guggenheim
-and Thomas Demand at 303 Gallery. The show is called Yellowcake - the name of a sort of uranium used in the production of nuclear weapons. The story behind the series, startin with a break-in in the Nigerian Embassy in Rome, is fascinating. Read it here.
